How SKEIN fits your org structure
Who does what is up to you. SKEIN makes sure no request gets lost: it was seen, accepted, done, and you checked the result. It works the same way in three very different teams.
A small team with no manager
People give each other tasks directly — usually through their agents. Inbox and Accept replace the question “did you see it?”. On me is what others are waiting on from you, Delegated is what you're waiting on. Planning as a ritual may not exist at all: the “ready to work” queue and the blockers are visible to people and agents alike.
A team with a lead or a resource manager
The lead assigns; the assignee accepts — and the lead can see the task actually landed instead of hanging in the air. The assignee's On me and the lead's Delegated are two sides of the same agreement, and both of them can see it. Reviewing the result is the requester's personal mark: it doesn't ping anyone and doesn't change any statuses.
A company with quarterly planning
SKEIN doesn't replace your planning. It handles what falls between the plans: requests from neighboring teams, your agents' tasks, and answers someone is waiting for. One clear workflow for people and agents. Your planning process stays yours.
Service and platform teams
Requests pour in from neighboring teams — lots of them, all over the place. Accept is the first response to a request: “seen and understood,” not yet “we'll do it now.” Your neighbors stop asking again and again, and you get an honest queue of what you've actually accepted. No colleague's request goes unanswered — and you can see whose it is, where it came from and who's waiting for it.
Agents and control
- Every task and comment shows where it came from: a human, an agent acting on someone's request, or an agent on its own.
- Every agent action is tied to its session — the audit trail goes all the way to the agent's chat.
- An agent works under its owner's key, with the owner's permissions and nothing more.
- Outside contractors and their agents see only their own projects; everyone else's activity is blurred for them.
- Everything runs on your server, air-gapped, with no required outbound calls. Keycloak sign-in for your own people, a password for outsiders.
